After ten years of dedicated service, Robert ‘Robbie’ Robbins bid a heartfelt farewell to the Edison Public Library. The longtime Building and Grounds Supervisor wrapped up his final day on July 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and care.

“Robbie was such an integral part of our Library system, always going above and beyond to ensure that all the buildings were clean, safe and well-maintained,” said Radha Dhanyamraju, branch manager at the Main Library, who worked alongside Robbins for eight years. “Additionally, during the renovations, he really stepped up and his hard work did not go unnoticed. Every day, he would open the door and greet staff entering the building with a smile. His presence will be greatly missed.”

Throughout his decade-long tenure, Robbins became a cornerstone of the library’s daily operations. From ordering supplies to ensuring that every corner of the building was safe, clean, and welcoming, he played an essential role in creating an environment where both staff and patrons could thrive. His dedication shone even brighter over the past year as he helped navigate the major renovation projects at the Main Library and the North Edison Branch, overseeing everything from relocating materials to setting up temporary and newly renovated spaces.

Robbins’ impact extended far beyond his work. Known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a hand, he formed countless connections with patrons, staff, and members of the community. His ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued is something that will be deeply missed.

Outside of work, Robbins and his wife, Denise—a retired teacher with Edison Township Schools—have built a full and joyful life. This year, the couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, enjoying time with their daughter, Jessica, and their two grandsons, Noah and Connor.

Now, as they prepare to relocate to Lititz, PA, later this month, Robbins is embracing the excitement of what’s ahead. He plans to work his way through a long “honey-do list,” seek out a part-time job to stay busy, and make plenty of trips back to New Jersey to visit family and friends.

“I had a wonderful 10 years here and met so many amazing people,” Robbins shared. “I have gotten to know so many patrons and members of the community and made so many friends. I am going to miss everyone, but I have a lot of plans and I’m looking forward to this new chapter.”
